Dinner at the Britannia Restaurant: Window on Hamburg
One year ago today we all had dinner on deck 3 of the Queen Mary 2 in Hamburg as it sailed up the Elbe River toward the North Sea. We dined on steak with corn on the cob and boiled potatoes served with rolls and iced tea. For dessert we had a cheese plate with grapes, which is something you never see on menus in the States. The window right next to our table became a window on the world unfolding in front of our eyes. Germans lined the banks of the river to watch the ship. The Lion King Theater appeared as well as various sailboats.
