We waited for the knock from breakfast room service that came about 8:30AM. We ordered scrambled eggs, bacon, tomatoes, Danish, hash browns, orange juice, and hot tea on July 4 last year. We had docked in Liverpool to celebrate Cunard’s 175th anniversary. As we ate we enjoyed views of the Mersey River right outside our cabin window. Right out on the deck we could see the Three Graces, Liverpool’s World Heritage Site, with the Royal Liver Building, the Cunard Building, and the Port of Liverpool Building all standing side-by-side harbor side. Much later we were also to be treated to fireworks. It was by far the most unusual Fourth of July we can ever remember.
